I have been a networker for some time now with practically every product imaginable. I would never give up on the concept no matter how bad some networkings are out there.
Instead of complaining and making it bad for everyone else people need to learn that networkings are not Pyramids and involve actual WORK.
The people that complain are usually those that have done the least to succeed in networking and feel they should be getting something for nothing. I personally don't want any of those people in my group because they are meant to work in the system.
